The winner of the Ottawa Wedding of the Year will be featured in Ottawa Wedding Magazine. The article will also include the names of the companies and services that participated in that wedding.


Wedding of a Lifetime is your chance to submit any wedding in your company’s history that you feel stood out as being incredible. It’s the one that you always look back on and say ” you rocked it”. It is open to all wedding planners, venues and any company that offers wedding planning or wedding coordinating service. You must prove that you were significantly involved in the planning and the execution of the wedding. Your social media and website must indicate that you offer wedding planning or wedding coordinating services as part of your company. Sorry this award is only for wedding industry professionals and it is not open to brides and grooms who do not own a wedding related company or service.

Roxy Zapala

is the founder and the creative director of Art of Celebrations. She is the wedding industry’s triple threat – a floral designer (co-owner of Flower Parade Inc.), an interior design consultant and a wedding planner. With a diploma in interior design and an extensive background in floristry, she has been working in special event production for the last 15 years. After creating thousands of stunning floral displays for weddings and other functions she decided to further hone her expertise and became a certified event planner and a certified destination wedding planner. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines including: WedLuxe, Elegant Weddings, Weddingbells, Today’s Bride and more. She was also featured on Rogers TV show The Event Manager.

Roxy has an exceptional eye for all things beautiful. She is a hopeless romantic, a connoisseur of fine cuisine and a true lover of art, music and travel. She appreciates all the fine things life has to offer and believes in making lasting impressions. These are the precise reasons why she produces unforgettable events that are sure to be talked about for years to come.

Daniela Caputo, CiS WPICC

For nearly three decades, Daniela Caputo and her company Montreal Event Planner has been the go-to authority, due to her wealth of experience and expertise in the industry.

Not only does she run her now, 10 year old, Meeting Planning Agency. She has developed a reputation for professionalism in various aspects: client services, project management to marketing, event execution, negotiations and sourcing, just to name a few. This puts her at the forefront of event planning not only in Montreal but now internationally.

Daniela is regularly featured and interviewed in industry publications such as; Ottawa Wedding Magazine, The Planner and Elegant Wedding. In addition, Daniela was recently invited to write a weekly Destination Blog for The Suburban’s online newspaper edition. Last year, was awarded the prestigious title “FEMMES EN AFFAIRES 2014”.

Given her expertise and reputable success, Daniela also finds the time to teach various courses on meeting/wedding planning at different institutions. She is also sought out for motivational speaking engagements on a number of different entrepreneurial subjects at numerous industry conferences.


Over the course of the past 20 years, Patricia has provided logistics management services for events and conferences for projects and clients s uch as the Canadian Aids Society, Department of National Defence, Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and numerous other government, association and non-profit organizations. She has held roles as Senior Event Manager with Brent Moore and Associates for 8 years and as Director of Convention and Catering Services at the Chateau Cartier Resort for 12 years.

As Managing Partner with CanPlan, she brings a wealth of experience as both a planner and facilities manager providing a real understanding of the needs and constraints of both the client and supplier. She brings an additional 10 years of management experience in the hospitality industry. Patricia is fluently bilingual and holds a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation since 2007. Patricia is an active member of the following associations:

  • Meeting Professionals International (MPI) since 1998, Board Member–VP Finance (2008-2012) / Chair of the MPI Annual Golf Tournament (2003–2010)
  • Canadian Society of Association Executive (CSAE) since 2012, Board Member – Co-Chair, Program and Continuing Education Committee (2014/2015)
  • Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Canada East Chapter since 2012
  • Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners (CanSPEP) since 2013, Conference Committee (2014/2015)

Patricia also holds many volunteer positions in the Ottawa Region.

Laura DiGirolamo

Laura is from Raleigh, North Carolina and the co-owner with her husband Dominick of Forever Bridal Productions Ltd and the Triangle Bridal Association. Forever Bridal Productions Ltd is a proud member of Bridal Show Producers International (BSPI). A fixture at the annual BSPI conferences, Laura and her husband Dom have set trends, served as industry expert panel members to other show producers, and are 3-time BSPi Star Award winners for image, branding and marketing pieces. In 2010, Laura was voted by the membership to a board member position where she served 2 consecutive terms as the director of Image and Branding for BSPI. In 2013 Laura was awarded the Spirit of BSPi award and in 2015 she was awarded the industry’s most prestigious award, Director’s Cup. Laura is currently the Co-Managing Director and will become the Managing Director in April of 2016. Laura also has a degree in interior design.

Lianna Mackie, WPICC

Lianna is a WPIC certified wedding planner and has been working in the industry for over 8 years. She began her career working at Strathmere helping coordinate beautiful country-estate weddings. From there she moved on to the Ottawa Convention Centre (now Shaw Centre) and planned some of the largest and most intricate weddings of her career. Lianna has also worked at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre as a Sales Manager planning conferences, conventions, Gala’s and weddings. She now works at the Delta Ottawa City Centre in a Marketing role, though still manages to squeeze in some free time to help friends and family plan their own weddings.
