Ladbrokes Names John Kelly Chairman of Board In Front of Coral Merger
UK-based betting and video gaming operator Ladbrokes plc announced today the appointment of John Kelly as Chairman of the business’s Board. Mr. Kelly has had the post instantly, after former Ladbrokes Chairman Peter Erskine stepped down through the place on December 3.
The gambling company also announced that Mark Pain is appointed as Non-Executive Director and Chairman of its Audit Committee.
Former Ladbrokes Chairman Peter Erskine made general public their intentions to leave the Board on May 7, 2015. Because of the overwhelmingly good shareholder vote for the proposed £2.3-billion merger with competing operator Coral Group, Mr. Erskine left the Board formally, handing the part to his successor. Mr. Kelly may also be Chairman of this combined entity Ladbrokes Coral Plc, provided the merger receives the necessary approval that is regulatory.
Commenting on his brand new post, Mr. Kelly stated it a great honor to be Chairman of the major gambling company, especially at such an important stage in its history that he considers. The state added that they will now stick to the ‘aggressive natural plan’ introduced by CEO Jim Mullen and certainly will strive towards the completion of this proposed merger.
Mr. Kelly also didn’t miss to acknowledge his predecessor’s time and effort to ‘steer the business via a much needed modernization’ and their assistance at the times when the organization had been facing major challenges.
